Germany-Curacao game

Not really a football person, but caught the Germany-Curacao game. When Curaçao scored their first ever World Cup goal their coach started crying. And that moment got to me too if I'm being honest.
Lost 7-1 but honestly who cares.

Did anyone else get emotional? =))

Watched it too and that goal celebration from the bench was something else, grown men losing their minds over a goal in a match they were going to lose heavily, but it genuinely didn't matter

The coach crying got me, Dick Advocaat has been in football for decades and that moment still broke him, says everything about what it meant for that country.

didn't watch it live but saw the clip of the goal and the reaction and honestly had to watch it twice, 150,000 people from an island in the Caribbean getting a World Cup goal against Germany is not something you see coming

Not emotional during football generally but the image of a 78 year old coach in tears on the touchline over one goal in a 7-1 loss is going to stay with me for a while.

This is exactly why the expanded World Cup makes sense even if purists hate it. These moments don't happen if Curacao doesn't qualify

caught the highlights and the Curacao fans in the stand after that goal looked like they'd won the final, sport is brilliant sometimes!

lost 7-1 and went home with something Germany didn't. that goal is in the history books forever, the scoreline is just a number.
