Always heard that land based casinos run worse odds than online but never really looked into whether that's actually true or just something people repeat. The atmosphere is obviously different but if you're sitting at a slot in a physical casino are you genuinely at a disadvantage compared to the same game online, or does it depend on the site?

It's generally true for slots. Land based machines typically run RTP between 85-92% while online the same title will be set at 96% or higher. The overheads of running a physical floor mean they need more margin from the machines.

Table games are a different story though. Blackjack and roulette odds are the same whether you're online or in person, the math doesn't change. It's mainly slots where the RTP difference shows up.

The atmosphere absolutely affects perception. Slower pace, sounds, free drinks if you're somewhere that does that. You're less aware of how quickly money moves. Online you see every transaction clearly which is actually better for your bankroll awareness.

Also worth noting that online you can check the RTP of a specific game before playing. Walk into a physical casino and there's no way to know what a machine is set to, they're not required to display it in most places.

The transparency difference is massive. Online you can look up the exact game math, read independent reviews, check the provider's published RTP. In a physical casino you're just trusting whatever the floor is running.

Online wins on odds and convenience, physical wins on experience. Depends what you're there for honestly. If pure value is the goal then yeah online is the better choice every time.
