Tell us a bit about yourself. Who are you and what is your role at Bragg Gaming?
I am the Senior Director of Games at Bragg, managing the internal game studio Indigo Magic. Indigo Magic is a new Bragg studio with big dreams and aspirations, fueled by tons of experience. We started off by launching Sea of Plenty and Mystical Forest, and have picked up the pace lately with our latest release Down the Chimney. Our plans for 2023 are much bigger, which started with the launch of Golden Avalanche, so there are exciting times ahead!
How did you first start in the gambling industry? What were the initial challenges?
I had my first job in the sector all the way back in 2002 as a call center agent. It was fun and I immediately saw a future in the industry, but the shifts were a killer! It gave me a great introduction to the industry though and set me up for roles with leading suppliers, and all that experience has led me to where I am today with Bragg and Inido Magic. The industry has changed a lot from when I first started almost 20 years ago and it’s been fantastic to be part of the journey to where we are today with new technology enabling us to be highly innovative and bring a superior product to players.
With so many game studios on the market, what do you think is the biggest differentiator for Bragg Gaming?
Bragg has a super dedicated and competent team, racking up decades of combined experience. We now have five in-house studios, all focusing on different areas which ensures our content is hyper-focused and relevant to our target audiences. We keep track of this through data and analytics to make sure we stay on course. Indigo Magic consists of a team of seasoned professionals from all segments of game production including experts in game math, art and design. At the very heart of the comprehensive casino content offering lies highly advanced technology. All of our studios are led by industry veterans, which ensures that our products are premium and that they stand out. Experience means nothing if you don’t love what you do and I really do, so finding people with the same passion is key for Indigo Magic! We’re in the process of adding highly experienced, passionate and creative individuals to the team, so you can expect to see their impact on the games released in Q2 for sure.
Can you please tell us what is the slot with the Biggest Wins from Bragg Gaming? We are sure our readers would like to give it a spin, if they haven’t already.
The games in the Indigo Magic portfolio, Mystical Forest, Sea of Plenty and Down the Chimney, offer wins in the excess of 4000x stake. They are diverse of course, with a range of features, but if players are looking for more, our latest release Golden Avalanche is 6000x. The title has two bonus modes, Avalanche Free Games with progressive win multipliers, and a Cash Falls respin bonus game – which is further improved with a unique Super Bonus when filling the screen. This cascading action-packed slot should appeal to those hunting big wins.
What are your top 3 favorite slots from Bragg Gaming? Can you please tell us the reasons behind your choices?
My favorite Indigo Magic release is Down the Chimney, as it has really nice features. Being a seasonal game, the theme is great – who doesn’t love Christmas and gifts! Mystical Forest looks great with quite a unique theme, and of course our fishing-themed game Sea of Plenty has performed well with its quirky characters. The best is yet to come however as we build on our portfolio and enhance the offering as we learn more about what makes players tick and find our unique selling points. I’m very pleased with the upcoming slot Golden Avalanche as well as our future release Phoenix Fury.
What is the most important aspect of a slot from your perspective?
I would say it’s about finding the perfect balance between mathematics and features. A great looking game without this balance is destined for failure. Developing a game that players want to come back to is also important, ensuring the title has longevity as we want to ensure we provide the ultimate entertainment. I won’t delve into too much detail to reveal our ‘magic’, but we are working hard to ensure we get all of this right.
Is there any way to predict if a slot is going to be a hit or not?
I would say taking what ‘sticks’ and exploring this is a good approach. The definition of a hit could mean different things but experience allows us to create games which we believe will have a greater chance of succeeding. Experience also allows us to combine certain mechanics and ignore others for a better player experience and faster development times. Of course, we’ll take chances as well, testing new mechanics on some releases.
Looking to the future, what is the next big release Bragg Gaming is planning?
We are only a few months into 2023 and the roadmap looks great! I think that our Q2 roadmap is where we’ll see the initial impact of Indigo Magic as a new Bragg studio. Phoenix Fury in April, followed by Big Roar in June are both really strong titles. Q3 will see us solidify Indigo Magic with what we have planned, including the introduction of a new industry-first mechanic!
Do you have any advice for those who would like to work in the gambling/ e-gaming industry?
Absolutely – find your passion, or path, and connect with people in the industry. You may not know your path right away, but working for the right employer can change that, so choose very carefully. Check the management too as having poor leaders can influence your career, so find a mentor and ask questions regularly. I would be happy to help anyone looking to enter the industry so feel free to reach out!
Is there anything you would like to transmit to those who support Bragg Gaming, before we say goodbye?
I would start by saying that 2023 is going to be even better than 2022! Bragg is playing to win and that is exactly what we at Indigo Magic will do over the next 12 months as we continue to expand our product offering to elevate the casino experience to a whole new level!
