Tell us a bit about yourself. Why have you chosen to work at SYNOT Games?
My name is Matej Sopóci and I am the Chief Product Officer at SYNOT Games.
Sheer luck is responsible for my current employment. I was between jobs when I got the opportunity to work at SYNOT Games. I was hired as a Tester, where I learned a lot about slots, how they work and what to look for in one. Ever since I was promoted to Product Manager, I had to learn a lot more about the industry itself, being able to assess what we do well and what we could do a lot better.
We love big wins, so can you please let us know the top 3 winnings ever paid by SYNOT Games?
Our top three wins so far have been:
You have an impressive slots portfolio, can you name the best three slots ever released by SYNOT Games?
I think our best slots are Respin Joker, Fruit Awards, and my personal favourite Diamondz -even with the ‘z’ at the end :D. They are beautifully designed, they keep the player engaged and the metrics only support these claims.
2021 was a challenging year for all of us. Even so, SYNOT Games had multiple releases. Which slot takes the 2021 title of the best SYNOT Games release?
We released a mixed bag of thematic and fruity slots this year, but none has been as successful as Respin Joker 81. Despite its release at the beginning of summer, it outperforms the other slots by a large margin.
Looking at the previous question, it makes total sense. We took what our players love about the original Respin Joker and tweaked it just enough to bring something new into the game but also retain what works best.
Looking to the future, what is the next big release SYNOT Games ] is planning?
There’s just so much going on that I cannot single out one release. We are expanding two of our most played slot series, Respin Joker and Book of Secrets. So expect a few more of those, and of course, we also have brand new games in store. 2022 will be a great year.
In a market with hundreds of game studios, what would you say is SYNOT Games ’s biggest differentiator?
We take a player-first approach. Players like fast loading times and intuitive usability. That’s why we try to combine great game design with responsiveness across devices, all in a reasonably sized package. These are important things to the player and we do our best to accommodate these needs.
We would love to hear more about the slot creation process. Can you let us know which is the most exciting part of the entire process when creating a new slot?
I love seeing a game coming together in the end. Putting each piece of the puzzle in place to see it come to life. It’s not always easy, we’re human and we make mistakes. But then it’s all the more rewarding when it finally works and people actually enjoy it.
What about any inside funny stories, do you have something to share with us?
While I was still a Tester, I used to pull pranks on my colleagues. I once taped my colleague’s headphones to the underside of his desk and left him a note saying „the headset is on your desk“. As a Tester, you cannot blame me for testing his patience, granted it was a short-lived experiment :D. If anybody asks, I am not pranking anyone these days.
How can you tell if an online slot is going to be a hit or not?
You can’t really tell. You can guestimate based on available data, but your hunch is just as reliable. Just do your best and hope it’s enough.
Switching our attention to casinos, with so many options out there, can you let us know which are your top 3 casino preferences?
When it comes to personal preferences as a player, I stick to local favourites Tipos, Tipsport, Niké and off course SYNOTtip since you can’t register at foreign casinos from Slovakia.
From a supplier’s perspective, any casino that features our slots has my vote. We make sure that those casinos provide excellent customer service and advocate responsible gaming.
Did you use to play slots before entering the iGaming industry? Can you share with us your biggest win on an online slot?
Before? Very little and only on land-based slot machines. Now I’m an active player of both land-based and online slots. But it’s not the wins that motivate me, I enjoy the experience.
I once won about 700x bet in an online casino and about 2500x bet on a land-based slot machine. I still have the receipt tucked away somewhere at home.
What are your hobbies?
I’m more of an indoor person. I even exercise at home most of the time. I like movies, books, painting miniatures, but to be honest, my biggest hobby is my job.
What has been your biggest challenge and your most significant success in the gambling industry?
Going through GLI certification of our games for the first time was probably the most challenging for me. Looking back, I was inexperienced and I tried to make up for that shortcoming by working even harder. It all worked out well in the end and I proved myself to my team and colleagues.
It’s infinitely rewarding to see that more people across many more countries continue to like and discover our games.
If you weren’t in the gambling industry, what other industry would you want to work in?
I would have definitely stayed within the gaming industry, trying to create the next best game.
