casino destination

what's the casino destination you think about most. vegas is the obvious answer but I feel like there are places that don't get nearly enough credit. where would you go or where did you go and was it worth it?

Monte Carlo is the obvious non-Vegas answer but it genuinely deserves the reputation, walked in there once just to look around and ended up staying four hours, the atmosphere is something else entirely.

been to Vegas twice and it's everything people say it is but Macau is on another level entirely if you ever get the chance, the scale of it is hard to explain until you're standing in it

Sun City in South Africa doesn't get mentioned enough, went years ago and still think about it, the whole resort setup around the casino makes it feel like a completely different kind of trip.

still on the list for me but I've wanted to go to the Casino de Barcelona for years, something about gambling somewhere with that kind of architecture just appeals to me more than a modern resort.

Prague actually surprised me, went for a weekend with no casino plans and ended up spending most of two evenings in one, good atmosphere, low pressure, not trying to be Vegas which I appreciated.

Vegas is Vegas and I won't pretend otherwise, been three times and every time something happens that couldn't happen anywhere else, it's chaotic in a way that's completely unique.

The places that don't get credit are the smaller European ones, Baden-Baden in Germany has a casino that opened in the 1800s and Dostoevsky apparently lost everything there, that kind of history changes how a place feels when you're sitting at the table
