Alright so I've been going back and forth on this for a while and figured I'd just tell you exactly what happened so you don't have to learn it the hard way like I did. Been playing on a few sweepstakes sites for about eight months now and decided to try loading up with a prepaid Visa instead of my regular card. Picked up a $100 card from a convenience store, went to deposit and nothing. Declined. Tried a second site, and got declined again. Third one actually went through but only accepted it as a one time deal, next time I tried the same card it got rejected.
Did some digging and turns out a lot of sweepstakes platforms flag prepaid cards because they can't verify the cardholder the same way a regular bank card can. Some sites will take them for the first purchase then block them on the second because the KYC system kicks in. A couple of platforms told me flat out they don't accept prepaid at all, which would have been useful information before I drove to the shop.
The one thing that actually worked consistently was registering the card with a billing address before trying to use it. Some platforms only process prepaid if it's a registered Visa gift card with your name and address on file. Still not guaranteed but hit rate was way better once I figured that out.
Anyone else been through this? Would love to know which platforms have actually worked for you with prepaid because my trial and error approach has been expensive...
