Had a withdrawal take five days once and by the time it arrived I'd already deposited again. Not sure if that was their plan but it worked lol.
I feel like complicated withdrawals are less about security and more about keeping the money in play.

The verification thing is the one that gets me, I've been verified on a site for two years and they still ask for documents every time I withdraw over a certain amount, at some point it stops being due diligence
 
happened to me exactly like you described, withdrawal pending, got bored, opened the site again, deposited, you know how it ends
 
Some of it is genuinely regulatory, AML checks are real and casinos do have compliance obligations, but there's a difference between necessary friction and friction that just happens to benefit the operator every single time.
 
the minimum withdrawal amount is the sneakiest one, you win 18 euros and the minimum is 20 so you either deposit more to unlock it or you just leave it there and keep playing, neither outcome is good for you
 
The casinos with instant withdrawals are not losing money because of it, they're building loyalty and reducing the reversal rate, fast withdrawals are actually good business, the ones that drag it out are optimising for the short term and hoping you don't notice
 
switched to a site with same day withdrawals about a year ago and I've never reversed a withdrawal since, when the money arrives quickly the temptation to play it back is just not the same
 
The reversal option is the part nobody talks about enough, most sites let you cancel a pending withdrawal and put the money back in your account, and they make that button very easy to find
 
cancelled a withdrawal once at 2am and lost everything in the next hour, the cancel button should not be that easy to press
 
@noah_spin some regulators have actually looked at this, the UK GC put guidance out about withdrawal reversal processes being designed to encourage players to gamble back their winnings, it's a known issue just not one that gets fixed quickly
 
every extra hour a withdrawal sits pending is an hour you might log back in and cancel it, I don't think that's paranoia I think that's just how the economics work
 
the sites that genuinely don't do this stand out immediately, you request a withdrawal and it's just there, no drama, no waiting, no three emails asking if you're sure, and you remember them for it
 
unpopular take but some players also just change their mind on their own without any nudging from the casino, slow withdrawals get blamed for a lot of decisions that were going to happen anyway
 
@LeoSlots fair point but the design choices still matter, if the withdrawal was instant those players would have less opportunity to reverse course even if the impulse was there, the friction is doing work whether it's intentional or not
 
had a site take six days once for a withdrawal under 100 euros, no explanation, no unusual circumstances, just six days, by day four I'd stopped caring about the money and started being annoyed about the principle, which is probably exactly where they wanted me
