The agony of the bonus round

You sit through the whole build up, the music, the anticipation, all that spinning and locking and dramatic pausing, and then it pays out 80 cents. You just stare at the screen for a moment and then keep playing like nothing happened because what else are you going to do

the keep playing like nothing happened part is so accurate it hurts, you don't even process it you just click spin again immediately because stopping to think about it would be worse.

Had a bonus round last week that took about a minute to play out, symbols dropping one by one, music building, the whole thing, and it paid 1.20 on a 1 euro spin which is technically a win I suppose.

The dramatic pausing is what gets me, the game knows what it's doing, it's making you believe something before it takes it away and somehow it works every single time

i once got a bonus round with a 15x multiplier and walked away with 60 cents, still don't fully understand how that's mathematically possible but here we are.

The worst is when someone is watching you play and you have to explain why you're excited about 94 cents like it's a completely normal reaction to have.

the music is specifically designed to make you feel like something massive is coming and then it just isn't and you've been conditioned so well that you'll get excited the next time anyway, it's genuinely impressive in a horrible way

Bonus rounds that pay under your original stake should come with some kind of warning honestly, not even angry just tired of getting emotionally invested in 78 cents.
