What did bad sessions actually teach you?

Nothing groundbreaking but I learned I needed a hard out, a time I stopped regardless of how the session was going, because open ended sessions always went longer than they should have and never ended better for it
 
Had a session where I made every decision correctly by my own logic at the time and still lost badly, taught me that good decisions and good outcomes are not the same thing and I'd been confusing them for years.
 
The most overlooked lesson is keeping a record, I started writing down sessions after a particularly bad one and the pattern that emerged was so obvious on paper that I couldn't believe I hadn't seen it while it was happening, the record doesn't lie the way memory does
 
Every lesson in this thread is real and most people who gamble regularly already know all of them, the interesting question is why knowing something and actually applying it are so completely different things, a bad session doesn't teach you new information it just makes you take the information you already had seriously for the first time.
