Tell us a bit about yourself. Who are you and what is your role at Kalamba Games?

I’m Piotr and I work as Product Owner for Kalamba Games, so I look after many of the key titles that we produce.  I have a long history in gaming and have been lucky enough to work on some great projects throughout my career so far.  Day to day at Kalamba I’m busy looking after the overall game development process from concept to the finished games players see, so one day I could be looking at how the mechanics work within a game and another I could be looking at what art direction a game should have, so it’s pretty varied.

How did you first start in the gambling industry? What were the initial challenges?

I started out in a social casino where I worked for 5 years, then moved to Yggdrasil, and now to Kalamba. Online gaming is probably one of the most regulated industries in the world, obviously due to the fact players are using real money, so it was quite a shift to start working within those parameters as opposed to social casino.

With so many game studios on the market, what do you think is the biggest differentiator for Kalamba Games?

Probably the mix of titles.  We do everything from classic fruit style themes such as our Joker series which is going really strong to art, theme-led titles such as Phat Cats MegawaysTM and the upcoming MegawaysTM Duel of the Dead which fuses the WIld West and – yes – Zombies!

Can you please tell us what is the slot with the Biggest Wins from Kalamba Games? We are sure our readers would like to give it a spin, if they haven’t already.

Currently the biggest win is of just over 23k the bet and that was on Cashpot Kegs.  More recently, we have had a massive win of 19kx on Phat Cats Megaways with Machina Reloaded Megaways notching up the next biggest at over 17kx.  Players can check our Hall of Fame on the website – kalambagames.com and actually experience video of these wins themselves!

What are your top 3 favorite slots from Kalamba Games? Can you please tell us the reasons behind your choices?

My favorite is probably the Blazing Bull series.  It currently includes Blazing Bull, Blazing Bull 2 and Blazing Bull Cash Quest. Machina – currently Machina MegawaysTM and Machina Reloaded MegawaysTM – which was our first MegawaysTM game. I like them because of their super rewarding free spins game where you have to transform the human symbols to cyborgs.

Our ever popular Joker Series is also great as it mixes classic style with modern features, and sort of similar is our Hit ‘n’ Roll series which boosts previous titles with an all-new wheel bonus mechanic.

What is the most important aspect of a slot from your perspective?

At Kalamba, we are definitely inspired by social gaming, adapting features such as missions and collection mechanics for real money gaming.  So for us the perfect slot these days is a complicated (and usually unique) mixture of features and mechanics from a range of different influences but we also have to strike a balance between using imported elements without compromising the essential slot game experience.

Is there any way to predict if a slot is going to be a hit or not?

There’s no sure fire way of course – so many different elements have to come together to make a hit slot, but as a relatively young supplier we’re developing that insight all the time.  You could say we’re building our confidence in our ability to predict such things!

Looking to the future, what is the next big release Kalamba Games is planning?

Like I say, the next big release is MegawaysTM Duel of the Dead which will naturally include the classic MegawaysTM mechanic.  This one looks particularly exciting as it also has a really cool shootout feature which we’re looking forward to players trying out.

Do you have any advice for those who would like to work in the gambling/ e-gaming industry?

Probably the most important thing for anyone wanting to work in the industry is to have players right at the front of their thought process.  Particularly in this industry it’s easy to get bogged down with numbers, but what really happens when people play slots is that they’re having fun – I always try to keep this top of my mind when we’re building games.  It should probably come as no surprise that many people who’ve gone on to great things have started in Customer Service – so more practically, it’s good to get a start there.

If you weren’t in the gambling industry, what other industry would you want to work in?

I’ve always been interested in science and animals, so if I hadn’t gone in this direction, I probably would have been a vet!

Is there anything you would like to transmit to those who support Kalamba Games, before we say goodbye?

Just to have fun with our games and keep playing!
